Deutsche Verrechnungsstelle AG (DVS AG) receives an enormous volume of invoices and receipts from its clients every month. These documents contain valuable information, but due to highly varied formats and layouts, the data could not previously be reliably extracted, collected, or aggregated. Together, we developed an AI-powered solution that processes documents via upload, identifies relevant data points, categorises and structures them — providing a foundation for reliable analysis, new insights, and additional use cases.
Challenge
Very high data volume: Over 2 million documents in the first month alone required robust, efficient, and scalable infrastructure.
Heterogeneous documents: Varying structures, layout variants, and content types made reliable, uniform processing a significant challenge.
High quality requirements: Since analysis results feed into real insights and business decisions, consistently high extraction and classification quality from the AI models is essential.
Strict data privacy and compliance requirements: Processing highly sensitive financial and invoice data demanded a fully GDPR-compliant architecture, secure data handling, and rigorous access and security concepts from day one.
